Ms. Miriam Zoole entered the world of martial arts 6 years ago when her daughters started Tae Kwon Do. After a few years of sitting on the side and just “being there”, she decided to give it a go herself. For several months she debated whether Tae Kwon Do was right for her. She kept “threatening” to start Tae Kwon Do until one day, while sitting waiting for her daughters’ classes to finish, she heard about the International Combat Hapkido Federation and Combat Hapkido.
Combat Hapkido turned out to be just what she was looking for. Size, strength and physical ability didn’t matter. There are no jump spinning flying any things and the techniques learned to defend one’s self can be used in a variety of circumstances. Some physical conditioning and cardio was involved which would help shed some unwanted weight.
Ms. Zoole tested for 2nd Dan Black Belt in April 2010 in front of Grandmaster Pellegrini and numerous other Masters at the annual Personal Protection Conference held in Lakewood, CO. She has been teaching many classes and is eager to continue helping to develop the Rocky Mountain ICHF program, especially for women by providing women’s self defense classes throughout the Denver Metro Area. Ms. Zoole is also developing a comprehensive Flexible Weapons program to augment the Combat Hapkido program. She demonstrated she Flexible Weapons skills at the Personal Protection Conference and was met with high praise from those that watched the demo, including Grandmaster Pellegrini who stated "This demonstration was one of the highlights of the conference"!
Besides Combat Hapkido, Miriam has learned much in the past three years. Some of her more enjoyable activities include Scuba Diving - she is currently a certified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, snow skiing, travelling, playing her keyboard and enjoying life no matter what it brings.
