The mission of the Rocky Mountain Region Combat Hapkido Association is to promote, develop, support, and grow the International Combat Hapkido Federation (ICHF) in the Rocky Mountain Region.

We are dedicated to providing quality self defense training, establishing ICHF programs at qualified martial arts schools throughout the region, and increasing the awareness and understanding of PRACTICAL self defense.

Master Steve Materkowski, the Rocky Mountain Region Combat Hapkido Association Director, is passionate about bringing practical self defense training to residents of the Rocky Mountain Region.

There are different aspects to practical self defense which the Rocky Mountain Region Combat Hapkido Association is dedicated to provide and promote, these include:

  • Being aware and alert of your personal surroundings.
  • Responding, not reacting, to your situation – responding enables you to be in control of the situation.
  • Knowing your strengths, and weaknesses, in a self defense situation to include physical size, strength, stamina and emotional response.
  • Applying simple to use techniques in order to remain safe, retreat to a safer area, or to disable/control an attacker.
  • How to survive an attack on the ground and how to stand up.
  • Provide additional classes and/or provide information on classes/seminars for knife and gun defense and use.
  • Having knowledge of physical tools to help defeat an attacker such as;
    • Stick
    • Short Stick (Danbong)
    • Flashlight
    • Pro-Tek
    • Flexible Weapons (Rope, belt, towel, etc)
    • Anatomical Targeting (Pressure Points)
    • Cane

The Rocky Mountain Region Combat Hapkido Association respects each person’s ability, interest and limitation. Self defense classes can be tailored to fit most special needs including wheel chair, cane, walker, prosthetic limbs, and sight and hearing limitations. Self defense training is generally for ages 12 and older yet children’s classes and seminars are available in throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. We also provide several women’s self defense seminars throughout the year.

Please contact us with any questions regarding our mission, curriculum, weapons training, special needs training, children’s classes and women’s self defense seminars.
