Oleg
Umanskiy was first introduced to martial arts
when he began studying Sambo and Judo in Moscow, Russia
in 1987. He resumed his studies of martial arts in
1997 under the direction of Master Steve Materkowski
in Combat Hapkido. Since then, he has cross-trained
in various martial arts, the most influential being
Kun Tao Silat. He has also engaged in an extensive
study of Philipino Martial Arts. This has further
expanded his understanding and skill in empty hand
tactics and weapons. He received his 2nd Dan Combat
Hapkido ranking in 2001. He currently teaches under
Master Steve Materkowski at the Colorado State ICHF
Headquarters School in Lakewood, CO and heads the
Combat Hapkido program at the Family Martial Arts
Center in Aurora, CO.
